On the 28th of February I went to watch a play called Family Ke Side Effects in Atta Galatta in Koramangala. This play was performed by the Theatre on Bengaluru group and was directed by Vineed Menon, who also wrote the script.
The play dealt with a Hindu boy and a Christian girl who get married against the wishes of their families. When a baby girl is born to them, both their families come to visit, resulting in some hilarious conversations as well as arguments and problems.
The storyline was one which was realistic and made sense. The acting was pretty good, though I thought in some cases is was a bit overdone. The lights and sounds were handled very well and they managed to fit the play well into Atta Galatta’s small space. The sets were excellent and helped in visualising a house.
Overall, I thought that the play was quite good and even though there was some overacting, the storyline and humour made up for it. 🙂
I have written this review now because even though I saw this play in February, it is playing again in Atta Galatta on the 2nd of May. I would tell people to go watch this play as it is entertaining and there is a good message behind it.
